Our Report
Company

You shouldn’t be concerned if the charger is “too strong” for your electric vehicle. Your EV, not the charger, controls how much power it takes in. The charging station will supply only the amount of electricity requested by the car.
Because the VB Charging charger is a plug-in device, its installation consists of just fastening the mounting plate to the wall, hanging the unit on the plate, and plugging it in. Our chargers are available with a NEMA 6-50 or NEMA 14-50 plug, depending on your plug preferences.
The outer casing is made of thick, durable aluminum, unlike other charger enclosures that are plastic.
The station is protected from harsh weather conditions, such as blowing rain and snow and has a NEMA 4 classification, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor usage.
The VB Charging home solutions arrive with two cables: regular and premium. The latter is specifically designed to remain pliable in freezing-cold conditions

Key takeaways

  • Average cost is between $459 and $899, depending on the specific model

  • High-quality, economical charging solutions offering 3 main Level 2 EV chargers

  • Can connect to Wi-Fi and provide monitoring and management through the VB Charging app

The charging levels generally refer to charging speed

Level 1 is slow (can take days for a full charge). It means 120 volts, like a typical household outlet, with a standard charging rate of 1.4 kW. Level 2 is adequate for at-home use (can charge overnight). It is 240 volts (like an electric dryer) and, depending on the amperage of the circuit, can range between 5.8 and 19.2 kW. Level 3 is the fastest (a half-hour top-up might add an 80% charge). It typically operates at 400 or 800 volts, and the rates can be as high as 350 kW.

A 40- or 50-amp circuit can charge most EVs overnight

The charger can connect via a plug or be hardwired into your home’s electricity. It simply plugs into an outlet, similar to any other household device. If you move, you can unplug your EV charger and take it with you or switch to another unit. If not charging, the outlet can also be used for other 240-volt needs, such as an electric heater or welder.
